About

— The Analog Vault // Essential Listening —

A marvelous piece of vintage Sundanese pop reissued by independent Indonesian label La Munai. First released in 1971 via Polydor Singapore, this eponymous record from Yanti Bersaudara (translated as “Yanti Siblings”) was the final album from a trio of singers named Yani, Tina and Lin Hardjakusumah. Backed by shimmering organs, lustrous vibraphones and jangly guitars - Yanti Bersaudara is a haunting and heavenly showcase for the West Javanese sisters’ exquisite voices.

From the jaunty fun of “Badminton”, to the gorgeously arranged “Tekad Pahlawan”, to the emotional poignance of “Bandung” (a tribute to their hometown), to the rocksteady vibes of “Leungiteun” - this 12-track LP brims with beautiful harmonies, pelog-based melodies and psychedelic Southeast Asian pop. — The Analog Vault

Sought-after eponymous Indonesian album by the Yanti Bersaudara (which means the Yanti sisters: Yani, Tina & Lin Hardjakusumah), released in 1971 and reissued for the first time. It is a very spiritual and magical Sunda album with haunting vibes based on a unique, creative and strong Sundanese cultural heritage. Active only for less than a decade (from the 1960s until the early 1970s), the three sisters originally from Bandung (West Java) sang traditional sundanese songs with beautiful voices & harmonies, creating a trippy oriental exotic psychedelic sound. – (via Label)
