Windows 96 is an electronic music project by Brazilian composer and producer Gabriel Eduardo. Combining the sound of synth/vaporwave, psychedelic, VGM and more. This 2019 self-released LP is the latest artifact to cross over to the physical realm. Gabriel’s lighthearted approach leaves most of vaporwave’s original touchstones intact - lo-fi textures, neon synths and jazz schmaltz, with tight snares and rubbery synth bass cutting straight though the mix (not 100% sure but it sounds like it’s been made completely sample-free). Fleeting synth leads and the occasional obscured vocal are left to flounder in the lo-fi quicksand.
