French DJ/Artist Stephane Pompougnac's first installment in this popular series featuring the best tracks heard at France's premiere club, bar and cafe. The Hôtel Costes series serves as a ''tastemaker'' (read: trendsetting) for the rest of the world. This volume emphasizes contemporary low-key dance music (lush, downtempo house and trip-hop) while cleverly incorporating the occasional older classic, like Grace Jones' “I’ve Seen That Face Before (Libertango).” Some of the bigger names who appear here include Nitin Sawnhey (“Migration”), <<rinôçérôse>> (“Machine Pour les Oreilles”), and Ballistic Brothers (“Cubafro con Amigos”).

Pompougnac has published more than 20 studio mixes, and also DJs for the fashion award show Les Venues de la Mode. He has also performed for fashion shows by Gucci and Yves Saint-Laurent. — via AllMusic
