About
Although his name will be forever tied to the non-prolific yet incredibly well-known duo Kruder & Dorfmeister, Richard Dorfmeister has spent most of his musical life teamed with schoolmate Rupert Huber. The pair have released four albums and as many full-length remix projects (as Tosca) in the same time K&D has yet to put out one album. And that is still not considering the time Dorfmeister and Huber spent playing together in Dehli 9, the high-school group from which this album takes its name.
Listening to anything by Tosca - indeed anything with Richard Dorfmeister's name on - is always a gloriously self-indulgent experience. What appeals most on this album is the instrumentation. Shining clearly through programmed rhythms and those lovely repeated syncopated echoes, are the sounds of real guitars, bass, vocals, drums. Dorfmeister plays flute on the upbeat and out-there "Wonderful"; Anna Clementis' vocals are understated and gorgeous on "Me and Yoko Ono" and "Oscar" and the bass on "Rolf Royce" is fat, dry and earthy.
As if all this weren't enough of a treat for Tosca fans, there's the bonus LP. Huber's contemplative, spacious piano compositions are beautifully reworked by Dorfmeister. If you're an Eno fan you might be reminded of his collaboration with Harold Budd, Ambient 2 / Plateaux of Mirrors. To celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Tosca’s landmark third studio album Dehli9, they are proud to present a fully remastered edition of this magical Tosca release. Available on 4LP and carefully reworked by Bo Kondren at Calyx Mastering in Berlin, this remaster purposely avoids any modern hi-fi tricks and techniques and is committed to the sound of the early 2000’s. — via Label
