About

Boxer is the fourth studio album by American indie rock band The National, originally released in 2007 on Beggars Banquet Records.

A documentary film, titled A Skin, A Night (see trailer below), was released the following year. Focusing on the recording process of Boxer, the film was directed by independent filmmaker Vincent Moon, and released in conjunction with a collection of b-sides, demos and live recordings, titled The Virginia EP, in May 2008. – Wiki

“Matt Berninger and co. follow their 2005 grower Alligator-- an excellent album that we initially underrated-- with another patient record full of clever turns of phrase and dramatic intensity, here even more restrained and controlled.” – Pitchfork

“Boxer just hones in even more precisely and intimately on the heartfelt territory the band covers, with punchy-yet-polished production and orchestration by the Clogs' Padma Newsome giving these songs an intimacy and widescreen expansiveness that rivals the Arcade Fire.” – AllMusic
