About
The third album from Japanese saxophonist Takao Uematsu – famed for his work on the Three Blind Mice label during the 70s – and sounding uniquely different here. The album was produced by the Japanese singer Maki Asakawa, and has a tuneful vibe at most points – with work from Shibuya Takeshi on piano and keyboards, Bobby Watson on bass, and Hiro Tsunoda on drums – a group who mostly come across with an old school acoustic vibe, but who also hit a slight mellow fusion vibe at times, thanks to the use of keyboards and the way that the drums are recorded. Uematsu has a nice sense of laidback soulfulness on his tenor – and titles include "Sonny Is Blue", "Cry Me A River", "Ja's Song", "A Song For You", "What's Happen", and a nice take on "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know. — (via Dusty Groove)
