About
Veteran singer/songwriter Taeko Onuki's iconic debut album, Grey Skies gets a reissue on white vinyl. Following the disbandment of Sugar Babes which she formed with Tatsuro Yamashita and Kunio Muramatsu, she embarked on a solo career. Onuki signed a contract with Crown Records as a solo artist and released her memorable debut on September 25, 1976. Tatsuro Yamashita, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Makoto Yano, and Tin Pan Alley (Haruomi Hosono, Shigeru Suzuki, and Tatsuo Hayashi) all participated in the recording sessions that took place between June and August 1976.
She has since achieved success and popularity during the 1970s and 80s in the city pop music scene. She took a two year break from music afterwards. Beginning from 1980, she released her “Europe” trilogy of albums: Romantique, Aventure and Cliché, taking on a more electronic sound. - via Label
