About
- A TAV Essential Listening Album -
From house and techno, to ambient and trance, to break-beat and disco – there is a substantial back catalog to memorialise from Susumu Yokata's outstandingly diverse oeuvre. One of the Japanese electronic music producer’s singular moments is derived from his 1994 record Acid Mt. Fuji. By manipulating field recordings and echoey electronic percussions, Yokota crafted an oscillating auditory document dedicated to Japan’s most sacred mountain.
Rife with natural and preternatural sonic signposts, Acid Mt. Fuji conjures a surreal and psychoactive atmosphere that immerses the listener into Mount Fuji’s lush landscape of wet forests and rugged highlands. Drenched in ambient mists while driven by an undulating acid techno pulse, Yokota invites the listener on a pilgrimage that is truly spiritual and mythical.- The Analog Vault

This triple vinyl Deluxe Edition includes the original album’s eleven tracks alongside five raw and jacking rare gems, available on wax for the first time, which were previously included only in the Japanese 2016 Deluxe Edition CD. The liner notes are written by DJ/producer Alex From Tokyo, who was a good friend of Yokota, and experienced the 90s Tokyo club scene first-hand as an insider. His compilation ‘Japan Vibrations Vol. 1’ captures this golden era, and features music by Prism (Susumu Yokota), Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Yasuaki Shimizu, Quadra (Hiroshi Watanabe) and more.
