About
Don't sleep on this one — Snad returns to Smallville with a bang — after "getting mezmerized" on his own Spandrel imprint, Shyam is back with three exceptional deep rollers, that will keep the floors moving worldwide.
Comes with a full Cover Artwork by Stefan Marx. — (via Label)

Most house tracks have absolutely no business stretching out past the 14-minute mark, but at no point during Dispo, the titular cut of Snad’s latest EP, does the song even begin to feel like a self-indulgent slog. The Berlin-based producer—who grew up near Philadelphia, has also logged time in Chicago and Texas and occasionally makes music under the name Spandrel—has carved out a sweet spot at the intersection of minimal, tech house and deep house, and while he adjusts the percentages of each from one production to the next, the one constant is his talent for subtly hypnotic grooves. That’s what makes Dispo such an easy listen; combining punchy drums with plush, filtered synths and a smattering of deliciously quirky (albeit never distracting) details, the track glides along with a confident ease. It’s as though Snad is driving a convertible and is inviting everyone in earshot to hop into the backseat and join him for a cruise down the boulevard.
Rounding out the record, “From Without” (8:29) and “Italosnadi” (6:14) clock in with more standard runtimes, but the songs themselves are no less enticing. The former injects a bit more funk into the mix, lending its pert rhythms a hint of swagger, while “Italosnadi,” true to its title, employs a touch of neon pizazz. But to Snad’s credit, he doesn’t go full day-glo, opting instead for a more of a seductive vibe that’s boosted by ethereal pads and and a few vocal clips that only speak in sultry, late-night whispers. — (via First Floor)
