About
As a successful Oscar winning composer, record producer, actor, and member of the Yellow Magic Orchestra — Sakamoto embarked on a diverse range of styles, as well as influencing and pioneering a number of electronic music genres.
The artist also worked with Alejandro González Iñárritu to compose the score for box office blockbuster and Academy Award-winning film The Revenant.
After he departed from the Yellow Magic Orchestra, his solo releases, particularly his experimental 1978 electronic fusion album 'Thousand Knives', and 'Riot in Lagos' - released the same year as part of his 'B-Unit' album - were influential in the development of electro and hip hop.
The reissue of Sakamoto's fourth solo album was created in collaboration with the artists management company Midi Inc, and features the original gatefold artwork and an extra insert with commentary by Andy Beta. - Mixmag
