About

One of the pinnacles of Japanese cine-jazz. This is the soundtrack for the film "3000 Kilometer Trap," — or often translated to "Shadow Of The Highway" in English — starring Jiro Tamiya, with music by Norio Maeda. Beautiful melodies and thrilling performances, including " Highway Woman - Main Theme ," " Woman Who Was Waiting - Men's Theme ," " Shadow of the Highway - Challenge to the Trap ," and "Woman Who Was Waiting - Variation,".

The 1971 film "3000 Kilometer Trap" was directed by Fukuda Jun. True to its tagline, "A sports car that cuts Japan from Kagoshima to Hokkaido," this suspenseful action film features a Mitsubishi Galant GTO racing throughout. It's a road movie often compared to the American New Cinema masterpiece "Vanishing Point."

The music was composed by master director Norio Maeda. The piano gracefully corners, the vibraphone gallops briskly, the bass powerfully gallops, and the drums shift into high gear. Vibrancy and silence, obsession and desire, joy and sorrow. The thrilling performance and beautiful melodies bring out the film's full potential. Its quality is extraordinary, not only as a soundtrack, but also for "Japanese jazz" in 1971. Such a performance. Unfortunately, the exact personnel is unknown, but there have been rumors that it may be related to Sound Limited (or The Third), led by Takeshi Inomata. This is one of the pinnacles of Japanese cine-jazz. — (via Yusuke Ogawa, Universounds / Deep Jazz Reality )
