About
Live to 2-Track All-Analog Recording & Mastering Pressed on High-Quality 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl at RTI!
Cut by JVC Mastering Center, Tokyo, Japan!
The Makoto Terashita's Piano Trio performs five Jazz Standards and one original composition on this great audiophile recording! If you are a fan of Three Blind Mice LPs you will love this record!
The top recorded number is the famous "Have You Met Miss Jones?" by Ricard Rodgers. The standard "Don't Blame Me" is from the famous performance of Art Tatum and Ben Webster. This ballad is a favorite of jazz musicians like Barry Harris, Bud Powell, McCoy Tyner, to name a few. The rest of the album is a nice balance of selections including: "Trinkle Tinkle," the composition by Thelonious Monk, whom Terashita holds in high esteem, the title tune, "Ihatov", which means "utopia" or "Ideal place" in Esperanto, a Ray Brown blues featuring bass player Koji Yamashita in "A Very Hip Rock'n Roll Music", and Benny Golson's famous number "Stable Mates".
All-Analog Mastered by Mitsugu Kobayashi (Renowned for his Three Blind Mice label work!) at the Mastering Center of Victor Company in Japan. Mastering Engineer Kobayashi's philosophy is to cut the sound recorded on the lacquer disk as carefully as possible, while ensuring an acceptable Dynamic range by enhancing the cutting level to the limit. For this recording, equalizing was minimized, and the limiting was used ever so slightly, so that the slightest bit of purtiy and freshness in the Makoto Terashita Trio's performance would not be spoiled! – Press Release
