About
Linda Carriere was born in New Orleans and raised in a small rural town near the city. Surrounded by trees, not waterways, she developed a love for reading and exploring the world beyond her rural surroundings. She moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, where she worked in a department store and frequented a youth club called "Maverick's Flat." Her singing talent was discovered by the club's owner, leading to her first opportunity to sing professionally. During this time she would tour across the US and Europe with Ralph De Blanc, after which she would go to Japan to record with ALFA. Her time in Japan came about from a demo of a couples duet she recorded with another musician that was submitted to ALFA, unbeknownst to her. ALFA would reach out to her and offer her the opportunity to record in Japan.
Her fantastic debut album was produced by Haruomi Hosono in 1977 with lyrics were written by James Ragan. Composed by Haruomi Hosono, Tatsuro Yamashita, Minako Yoshida, Akiko Yano and Hiroshi Sato. At the time, a small number of test pressings of the rough mixes were distributed to insiders for promotional purposes, but they were never released. This album has received numerous requests for its release, and now it is finally being released with the latest mix by Goh Hotoda in the presence of Haruomi Hosono. — (via Label)
