About

Iconic and influential Norwegian indie folk duo Kings Of Convenience have released exclusive vinyl reissues of their seminal first three releases—Quiet Is The New Loud (2001), Versus (2001), and Riot on an Empty Street (2004). Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe — emerged from Norway with a delicate and dynamic sound that got the entire world talking in 2000. Their debut, Quiet Is The New Loud, was produced by Ken Nelson (Coldplay) and earned overwhelming critical acclaim with 4.5/5 stars from Rolling Stone, 4/5 stars from Q, and 8/10 from NME, among other accolades. That same year, they enlisted the talents of Röyksopp, Four Tet, Ladytron, and others to remix Quiet Is The New Loud on Versus. In 2004, the group’s second full-length, Riot On An Empty Street, boasted two collaborations with Feist, and Pitchfork called it, “Pristine and peaceful.”

The band’s most recent album, Declaration of Dependence, was released in 2009. After exploring side projects – Øye’s album Legao (2014) and Bøe’s soon to be released album with Kommode, mixed by Blue May – the band is spending 2016 composing and collecting songs for a new Kings Of Convenience album.

Long out of print, these critically celebrated releases that solidified Kings Of Convenience as progenitors of folk’s influential “Quiet Music Movement” are perfectly suited for the vinyl enthusiast. — via Label
