About
The Jazz re:freshed 5ive’s are a series of five track mini-album releases, showcasing the quality, influence and diversity of jazz, whilst celebrating the music’s unsung heroes and emerging unsigned talent. It was devised to offer musicians an opportunity to stretch themselves and their music, in essence giving an outlet to artists that Jazz re:freshed believe need to be heard.
To follow the success of the first ‘Jazz re:freshed 5ive’ release by drummer Richard Spaven, Jazz re:freshed called on the genius that is Kaidi Tatham. If there is one artist that has truly become synonymous with jazz re:freshed over the years, it is Kaidi – the energy, the skill, the showmanship, the innovation, the genius. Kaidi connects with an audience like no other, through his entrancing music and his infectious personality, especially when he’s performing at Jazz re:freshed, his spiritual home.
The ubiquitous vibe behind the West London/broken beats/nu-jazz scene as a core member of Bugz In The Attic, Kaidi has added his unique flavour to many a club anthem and put the spirit of jazz right at its heart. Kaidi’s 5ive is a further example of how jazz is still a relevant, progressive modern music genre and continues the lineage of jazz, fusing it with his own twisted funk, boogie and electronica.
Kaidi’s 5ive, features Kaidi Tatham and… er… that’s it. Kaidi on Keys, Kaidi on Percussion, Kaidi on Drums, Kaidi on Synth Bass, Kaidi on Flute, Kaidi on the programming and even Kaidi on vocals. His distinctive style and nuances are all contained in these 5 tracks, so much so, you can almost see him sitting at the rhodes grinning from ear to ear as he lays down those luscious chords. - Jazzre:freshed
