For the past decade or so, Polish musician Michal Jacaszek has been exploring a new, resolutely modern chapter in Eastern Europe’s long, storied love affair with classical music. His creations are painstakingly crafted collages of electronic textures and baroque instrumentation. 

Michal Jacaszek’s and Kwartludium Ensemble new project comes from fascination of nature. It is related to Olivier Messiaen’s work “Catalogue d’oiseaux”, where birdsongs and their environment were translated into musical domain. Jacaszek together with Kwartludium create an atmospheric blend of field recordings, instrumental improvisations and excerptions from Messiaen’s compositions. — (via Label)
