About

Clifford Jordan was a tenor saxophone giant who was born in Chicago in 1931 and continued to express the essence of hard bop until his death in March 1993. This legendary masterpiece, a monumental masterpiece in the history of modern jazz, will be reissued in a new format as a 45rpm/2-disc LP set! This album was recorded at his own expense in the spring of 1969, when he debuted with BLUE NOTE in the late 50's, passed through the turbulent 60's, and was about to reach his peak in the 70's. It was released as the first disc of the produced "Dollfie series". The highlight is "VIENNA" (A1), a masterpiece in which Jordan, Don Cherry, and Wynton Kelly play an ecstatic daydream to a minor melody and a melancholy waltz beat. The maddening sadness, sensuality, and lyricism that overflow there are the pinnacle of spiritual jazz that continues to emit a rare charm even today! - P-Vine
