American Jazz pianist Bobby Timmons originally released This Here Is Bobby Timmons as his debut album as leader in 1960 on the Riverside label. Containing 9 hard bop cuts the album features Sam Cobb on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums and is produced by Orrin Keepnews.

This new edition of the album is released as part of the OJC Series on 180-gram vinyl pressed at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes at Cohearent Audio and a Stoughton Tip-On Jacket.  — (via Label)

As a pianist, Bobby Timmons had already left a lasting mark on hard bop before recording This Here Is Bobby Timmons in 1960. As a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and Cannonball Adderley’s Quintet, he helped shape some of the era’s defining recordings while contributing compositions that would become jazz standards in their own right. His debut as a bandleader gave him the chance to step out from behind those legendary groups and reveal the full scope of his talent. This release provides the most transparent glimpse yet into Timmons’ soulful playing and his studio sessions.
