Cody ChesnuTT To Release New Album, Drops First Track Featuring Raphael Saadiq

American R&B/neo soul singer Cody ChesnuTT, best known for appearing on The Roots' 'The Seed (2.0)' from their album Phrenology, will be releasing a new politically and socially conscious album titled My Love Divine Degree.

ChesnuTT's first new track off the album titled 'Bullets In The Streets And Blood' features Raphael Saadiq, neo soul multi-instrumentalist and frequent D'Angelo collaborator, on bass. Sessions for this album were conducted at Saadiq's Hollywood Studio with production from Twilite Tone, associate of Kanye West and Common.

As opposed to his usual classic soul sounds, his latest features a more electronic based sound built out of 808s, while still retaining his trademark sense of heartbreak. He tells Noisey, that his latest album was heavily inspired by The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ, a book given to him by his girlfriend that offers a different view on the teachings of Christ. He describes how "one of the stories is about love divine and how it can be applied" which stuck with him in particular. With the premise of how "we rise above our own selfish needs and offer a higher love that everyone can benefit from, to win the hearts of men to better things" which is what ChesnuTT hopes to similarly accomplish with his music and art, hence naming his latest album after this concept.

Due to be released in early 2017, in the meantime check out his latest track off the album below.
