But it comes from several unlikely sources, author and TV personality Fearne Cotton chief among them. British people of raving age will remember Cotton as a regular fixture on children’s entertainment programs in the late ’90s; hearing her coaching us through breathing exercises on “Embodiment Breathing,” a 20-minute track produced by Jon Hopkins, is a bit like running into a former teacher who also moonlights as a nightclub MC. Podcaster, influencer, and sound healer Cherub Sanson, whose Instagram grid includes footage of her playing the flute for pregnant reindeer in the Norwegian mountains, teams up with UK producer Rommek and Sanson’s frequent partner-in-chime Tim Wheater on “Bliss Code 000,” a 15-minute dream of gooey aural texture.

The tracklist also offers new perspectives on some familiar faces: djrum, Alessandro Cortini, Jennifer Loveless, and Ruthlss’ contributions all skew calmer than their usual output. “Mineral,” by Japanese producer Wata Igarashi, an artist best known for thunderous techno, is especially ear-catching: jangly mood music so lush and textured it could pass for a watercolor on display in Gallery 501 at MoMA. Igarashi made the track after smelling a fragrance developed by a close friend in the artisanal perfume business, and it’s a track you’ll want to hear, smell, and breathe, as good as anything Terry Riley or Tangerine Dream ever made. When its undulating bass notes begin around eight minutes in, a hypnotic ditty turns into something supernatural.

“Mineral” is the centerpiece of Holland’s continuous mix on Quantum Sound, a swirling vortex of a piece that can easily monopolize your attention, but every moment on Quantum Sound is worthy of your time, provided you can find a room with suitably soft upholstery and don’t mind observing the insides of your eyelids for prolonged periods. It’s the kind of music that renews your faith in the ability of sound to heal all that’s wrong with you and the world around you. If you think that’s asking too much, then maybe just stick to the scented candle. — (via Label)

Vinyl Tracklist

A1 Jon Hopkins - Embodiment Breathing (With Fearne Cotton)

— Vinyl exclusive

B1 Cherub Sanson, Tim Wheater, Rommek - Bliss Code 00

B2 Hannah Holland - Ambient Chronolight 1

B3 Djrum - Come Find Me

C1 Alessandro Cortini - IV

C2 Wata Igarashi - Mineral

C3 Silent Shadow - Red World

D1 Cherub Sansom & Tim Wheater - Stillpoint

D2 Manami - Sown

D3 Jennifer Loveless - If You Let It

D4 Ruthlss - Dark Angel

D5 Hannah Holland - A Door to Who Knows

↓
Label: Houndstooth
Format: 2 x Vinyl, LP
Released: 2026
Genre: Electronic
Style: Ambient

File under: Electronic // Ambient / Experimental / IDM
⦿
