There’s a lot happening in NAQI Mixtape. Like the Puerto Rico trench, it is an entity of inestimable depth. Veering from flamenco guitar to atmospheric electronica; pristine jazz to ambient space; it’s got it all going on. The creator of this ambitious collection is the uber-talented, classically-trained, Brixton born-and-bred, Mansur Brown. A veritable prodigy, Brown doesn’t confine himself to conventional boundaries. Whilst his music is distinctly guitar-centric, when it comes to classification, it has the span of an albatross.

Brown’s third album (sort of), NAQI Mixtape is a multi-faceted, intricately-layered beast: an assemblage of songs that have been lovingly crafted. It is extremely clean, polished without being slick, with every note laid down with utter precision. Consequently, it delivers against Brown’s objective to make his music feel rejuvenating.
