Jamie xx's first original solo turn since 2011 is an archetype of modern, gauzy dance pop. 'Girl' drifts out to a dream sequence of languid Hackneiric dance pop licked up with lazy bassline and refracted thru a prism of smudgy, MDMA-crystallised processing. 'Sleep Sound' finds a seductive sweet spot somewhere between the harmonised indie/R&B traits of Panda Bear and Four Tet's burnished garage house, ripe for moonlit sessions on Mediterranean coasts.
