About

A TAV Essential Listening Album.

Funkadelic's all-time classic 1978 album reissued on heavyweight vinyl complete with bonus 7" vinyl EP originally only available with early copies of the LP.

Masterminded by the larger-than-life figure of George Clinton, Funkadelic was a key component of his influential P-Funk empire. Funkadelic's unique combination of Rock, Psychedelia and Soul led to the band to crossing over into the pop mainstream and gaining an international following, to become one of the most important groups in the evolution of funk.

Regarded by many as an all-time funk masterpiece, One Nation Under A Groove was recorded at United Sound in Detroit and includes a live track taken from the band's appearance at the Monroe Civic Center in Louisiana in April 1978.

The band's tenth studio album, it was also their most commercial, with the title track spawning an international hit (and a US R&B No.1). Renowned for their eccentric cartoon-style artwork, One Nation remains one of Funkadelic's most memorable and celebrated creations and captures guitarist Michael Hampton at the peak of his craft. - Charly Records

“One Nation Under a Groove is a funky masterpiece of free thought and inclusion intent on bringing listeners, as “Promentalshitbackwashpsycosisenemasquad (Doo Doo Chasers” crassly puts it, “music to get your shit together by”. The track is a great example of Clinton’s often crude sense of humor and it would be easy to overlook were it not for the relentlessly slow guitar groove that seems to roll and unroll like the string of the world’s slowest, most hypnotic yoyo. Once hypnotized, the politics begin to shine through the toilet humor and a song about the “low calorie logic” of “social bullshit” emerges. “Into You” outlines the simplicity of One Nation Under a Groove’s all inclusive party. There’s the deep rolling of Bootsy Collins’ bass line, the jazz-funk fusion of Michael Hampton’s guitar and the simple declaration that Funkadelic is, “Into you, my people”.” - PopMatters

About Funkadelic:

Funkadelic is an American band that was most prominent during the 1970s. The band and its sister act Parliament, both led by George Clinton, pioneered the funk music culture of that decade.

When referring to “P.Funk” as a style, it is a shorthand term for the distinctive style of funk music that George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic collective performed. - Wiki / Discogs
