He’s a master at work to enact his vision for the future of música urbana.

Across five studio albums in just over six years, Bad Bunny has made music for the masses without sacrificing his culture. Now, as he enters his 30s, Benito has paused to reflect on this unprecedented moment: a time when música urbana has surged onto the global stage and risks being diluted by its own commodification. He could’ve recruited the biggest names in Latin music to chase more Grammys and streams. Instead, Bad Bunny returned to his beloved Puerto Rico, forging a deeper connection to his community and producing his most profound statement yet. In a fraught political moment following the victory of Donald Trump and a devastating loss for the Puerto Rican Independence Party in the 2024 election, Bad Bunny’s sixth studio album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (I Should Have Taken More Photos), is a bold declaration—a groundbreaking testament to his evolved artistry and vision for the future of música urbana. — (via Pitchfork)

—

Bad Bunny ushers in 2025 with a collection of new music, and as the first big release of the year, Benito hits the ground running with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. Trading the trap perreo of Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana by returning to his Puerto Rican roots, blending latin genres to offer up 17 tracks of feel-good, island vibes. With a handful of exceptional guest features and much more grounded lyricism on some parts, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS offers Benito’s most diverse set of songs to date.

Most of the album is fixated on nostalgic instrumentals, once again honing in on Benito’s love for his home of Puerto Rico. Throughout the album, he gifts listeners with his own renditions of these traditional Caribbean sounds. The majority of the time he lets the production do the work for him, such as on the muted “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii”, whose twinkling guitars and percussions evoke a quiet and breezy feeling, reminiscent of watching the sunset on a beach.

Benito takes other familiar genres and flips them over their heads, as is the case on “EL CLúb”, where he showcases a glitchier, digitized take on house music. This also applies to the handful of reggaeton tracks sprinkled throughout DTMF as well, easily the highlights of the entire album. The lack of these danceable type tracks on his previous album was surprising, so to hear Benito bring this sound back was much needed.

All in all though, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS is a solid addition to Bad Bunny’s eclectic discography. Making the choice to return to his roots both sonically and lyrically, was an excellent move on his part. It allows listeners to learn more about Benito’s home, his culture, and being able to appreciate the love he has for it. While the length is something that could’ve been shaved off by a couple songs, DTMF is a great album nonetheless. — (via Medium)

—

- 2LP, reissued on white vinyl

↓
Label: Rimas Entertainment
Format: 2 x Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo, White, GZ/MRP Pressing
Reissued: 2026 / Originally Released: 2025
Genre: Hip Hop, Latin, Pop
Style: Reggaeton, Salsa, Merengue, Trap, Jibaro, Bolero, Synth-pop, Plena, Bomba, Latin Pop, Aguinaldo

File under: Latin Inspired
⦿

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0584/5434/3838/files/0199806106600_1200x1200_ca1538e9-5bd7-4d42-b06a-0ab71d083c6f.jpg?v=1778227559
